Welcome to our new website!

We’re super excited to be launching our new Careers in Ideas website! We hope you enjoy your visit.

The new site provides a wealth of information and resources to inform and inspire anyone considering a career in the Intellectual Property (IP) professions.

First...

…learn the basics by checking out our What is Intellectual Property? page  and our overview of careers in IP. (We’ve even provided a handy jargon buster for when those specialist IP terms are getting you down.)

Then find out how intellectual property can provide a career for anyone, in our discussion of Diversity in the IP professions.

A collage of photos of 11 people who work in IP, of different genders, ethnicities and ages. Some are shown outside work, such as hiking, practising archery, on holiday or at a party. One carries a placard saying "Dyslexic", another a placard saying "Patent attorney, Blogger, Gay, #LawWithNoFilter". In the centre the Careers in Ideas logo is accompanied by the words "The IP Crowd" and "All these people have Careers in Ideas".

Next...

…take a deeper dive into our IP career options page, which includes profiles of a diverse range of IP careers.

Then...

…be inspired by meeting our People in IP. These are individuals from different backgrounds in different roles who have shared their career stories from the world of ideas.

You could also explore the “My Summer of IP” series of blog posts, written by people aspiring to a career in IP who’ve found useful resources and opportunities through our Summer of IP programmes.

One man holds a mug saying "Nobody knows I'm gay". In the centre the Careers in Ideas logo is accompanied by the words "The IP Crowd" and "All these people have Careers in Ideas".

Resources, events and more...!

Careers in Ideas is proud to provide a fantastic range of free resources. They include videos providing information about many different IP careers, where you’ll meet people who already have “careers in ideas” and learn what they enjoy about them. There are also slide sets packed full of information, and a Careers in Ideas poster to help you inspire your friends, colleagues and students.

We also run occasional events (most recently as part of our Summer of IP outreach campaigns), whilst our hugely popular Mentoring Hub is a scheme helping would-be recruits navigate their way into the IP professions.

And this is all available free of charge! What’s not to like?

So...

…take a look around and let us know what you think! We welcome comments and suggestions via our “Talk to us” webform and we’d love to hear from you.

The thank yous

Much of the content for this website has been provided by volunteers: IP professionals who believe it’s important to raise awareness of, widen access to, and improve diversity in, their sector and have given up their time to help make that happen. We are very grateful to them.

Particular thanks go to Carys Bello, Head of Social Media at Fellows and Associates, an IP sector recruitment, business consulting and social media consultancy, for creating the wonderful introductory video on our new home page.

The Haseltine Lake Kempner logo

… And a huge thank you to Haseltine Lake Kempner LLP, whose generous donation to IP Inclusive in 2023 has allowed us to build this new Careers in Ideas website. It simply wouldn’t have been possible without them!

Their Chief Executive Graham Lambert has kindly provided us with the following quote to welcome the new site:

“The Careers in Ideas website is another great example of IP Inclusive’s continuing drive to build a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming community for IP professionals, and we’re delighted to have contributed to its development. It’s crucial that our industry continues to work together in making careers in IP accessible to all, and we are very pleased to see how our support has made a difference as part of our commitment to the future of IP. I’m sure all supporters of IP Inclusive share our appreciation for the impact that IP Inclusive is having on our industry.”
